What to know before your first Flight Room.
Is OnFlight available now?
Yes. OnFlight 1.0 is free on the App Store for iPhone with iOS 17 or later. It is available in 174 countries or regions; France is excluded. Everyone in your Flight Room needs the app installed.
Will OnFlight work on every flight?
No guarantee. Nearby connection availability can vary by device, operating system, proximity, permissions, radio settings and cabin conditions.
Does it bypass flight mode?
No. Keep Airplane Mode on. OnFlight may need Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi enabled within Airplane Mode, only where your airline permits. Always follow crew instructions.
Can strangers message me?
OnFlight uses invite-only Flight Rooms. People join through the group invite you share. There is no public cabin chat or passenger directory.
Does it show live empty seats?
No. Seat observations come from your group, not airline availability data. Never move seats unless the crew gives permission.
Does it order food or track the aircraft live?
No. The cabin-order tool is a shared checklist, not airline ordering or payment. Flight progress is an estimate based on timing, not live aircraft tracking.

The idea came from being split up on a budget flight and using AirDrop just to communicate with someone sitting a few rows away. That should not be the best solution. OnFlight helps make split-seat trips simpler before takeoff, calmer in the air and easier to organise after landing.
